We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data & Security Engineer to join our team in a fully remote capacity.
With a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in data and data management, you will be instrumental in implementing strategies and best practices to uphold effective data governance and security measures, ensuring the protection, consistency, accessibility, and management of data across our organization.
Familiarity with Data Taxonomy is essential, and proficiency with Collibra software is highly advantageous.
Overview:
As a Senior Data & Security Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in tackling the challenges associated with domain taxonomy within our organization.
Your expertise will be pivotal in defining common definitions of business terms across organizational domains, identifying Authoritative Data Sources (ADS), and driving discussions related to domain-specific data governance.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with System Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Custodians, and other subject matter experts (SMEs) to establish common definitions of business terms across organizational domains.
- Ensure that approved business terms are accurately documented and maintained within Collibra.
- Identify Authoritative Data Sources (ADS) for each subsection of data domains to ensure data integrity and reliability.
- Review and rationalize business terms within Collibra, including updates, deduplication, and alignment with data domains.
- Conduct thorough reviews of new business terms, data entities, and data products submitted in Collibra for accuracy and completeness before making decisions.
- Lead working group discussions focused on the assigned domains, with a focus on advancing domain-specific data governance initiatives.
Key Domains:
- Transaction:
Manage data related to transactions, encompassing debit and credit activities, cash movements, securities transactions, credit extensions, interest accruals, and more.
- Advisory:
Oversee data associated with advisory services provided by Northern Trust, including financial advisory, trust and estate services, and other advisory offerings.
- Asset:
Handle data pertaining to assets of economic value, such as securities, bonds, mutual funds, cash, real estate, and other tangible and intangible assets recognized on the bank's balance sheet.
- Event:
Capture data representing happenings at specific moments in time, facilitating accurate timing records.
Timing:
This position is expected to commence no later than April 2024.
